Output Biosciences has developed a biological reasoning model that understands biology at the scale and complexity life actually operates. The model independently learned principles of molecular interactions, enabling drug treatments previously impossible. The company is in stealth, founded by repeat founders and biotech veterans with multiple exits in AI x Bio, backed by top-tier VCs including Y Combinator.
You will own the groundwork behind every partnership Output pursues—finding the right partners, understanding their needs, and preparing the company to engage at the table. You'll work closely with founders, including a former large-pharma VP of Business Development, building the partnering engine from the ground up.
Key responsibilities:
- Map the partner landscape in drug discovery by researching and identifying pharma and biotech organizations whose therapeutic focus, computational maturity, and deal appetite align with Output's offerings across platform and asset partnerships.
- Map partners beyond drug discovery, including infrastructure, compute providers, and large technology and AI organizations where partnerships could create value.
- Own the pipeline: build and maintain target lists, account plans, and prioritized pipelines, applying judgment about fit so founders' time goes only to worthwhile opportunities.
- Prepare partner-ready materials that translate Output's capabilities into language each partner understands.
- Build and maintain the network by developing contacts across ecosystems and representing Output at partnering conferences and industry events.
- Run the meeting cycle: prepare founders for partner conversations, join meetings, handle follow-up and coordination to prevent stalling.
- Connect science and partners by coordinating between Output's science and technology teams and prospective partners, scoping partnership requirements and ensuring partner feedback reaches the right internal teams.
Requirements:
- 3+ years of experience in business development, partnerships, or related commercial roles in biotech, pharma, or life sciences.
- Understanding of the drug discovery landscape: how pharma organizations are structured, how they evaluate partnerships and therapeutic assets, and how deals are typically structured.
- Ability to operate across different partner worlds—pharma, biotech, and the broader AI and technology ecosystem—and get up to speed quickly on how each evaluates and structures partnerships.
- Strong writing skills to synthesize complex scientific and commercial information into clear, credible materials for scientific and technical audiences.
- Natural networker energized by building relationships and contacts across pharma, biotech, and AI ecosystems.
- Highly organized and follow-through oriented; track every conversation, next step, and open item without being asked.
- Comfortable working closely with founders and adapting quickly as partnership priorities shift.
- Clear communication across technical and commercial audiences; able to hold your own in drug discovery and AI conversations without being a scientist.
- Good judgment about fit and comfort in a selective partnering culture where surfacing the right opportunities matters more than volume.
Bonus qualifications:
- Existing network and direct contacts in pharma or biotech business development and R&D.
- Direct experience supporting pharma partnerships, licensing deals, or research collaborations.
- Exposure to partnerships or business development in technology or AI sectors beyond life sciences.
- Background in life sciences consulting, healthcare investment banking, or venture capital.
- Scientific degree (BS, MS, or PhD) in biology, chemistry, or related field.
- Experience at stealth or early-stage company building BD processes from scratch.
- Familiarity with AI-for-drug-discovery landscape and key players.
