Fireworks is a Series D AI infrastructure platform valued at $17.5B, backed by NVIDIA, Sequoia, Benchmark, and others. Founded by the PyTorch team, Fireworks enables companies to build, train, and serve specialized AI models tailored to their data and workflows. As a Member of Technical Staff on the EMEA field team, you will be a core builder on one of the world's largest inference platforms. This is a flexible, level-agnostic role (3–10 years experience) designed for exceptional software engineers who prefer building product to customer-facing work, though customer engagement is optional. Key responsibilities include: - Design and ship end-to-end product capabilities from ambiguous requirements to production - Build inference capabilities: routing, model controls, observability, and deployment-specific features on top of the serving stack - Develop training tooling: fine-tuning and post-training infrastructure, data pipelines, and evaluation frameworks alongside applied ML engineers - Own EMEA-specific product needs and collaborate with the core platform team on regional requirements - Set engineering quality standards for the regional team; your code serves as the reference - Leverage AI-assisted and agentic development as core practices, with sound judgment on when to trust AI output - Optionally join customer deployments or conversations when interesting You must demonstrate first-principles thinking—breaking down novel problems and reasoning to solutions without reference implementations. This is the primary interview signal and can outweigh other qualifications. You need depth in backend systems and infrastructure with a proven track record shipping production systems you owned. Strong coding skills in Python and at least one systems language are required. Fluency in AI-assisted engineering and agentic tooling is essential, as is genuine interest in inference and AI infrastructure. This role offers the opportunity to solve hard problems at the forefront of AI infrastructure, work with bleeding-edge technology impacting global AI adoption, and join a fast-growing team with direct ownership and impact. You'll collaborate with world-class engineers and researchers in a flat, results-driven culture.
