Salary: USD 250,000 - 290,000 / annual
Wheel is a Series C healthtech company building a virtual care platform that enables enterprises to deliver high-quality clinical services at scale. As Medical Director of Clinical Program Design, you will own the clinical protocols, quality assurance, and outcomes measurement that drive Wheel's virtual on-demand, urgent, and convenience care programs.
You will write, update, and refine clinical protocols that power Wheel's care delivery, integrating them across partner networks and translating them into platform logic. You'll lead and scale Wheel's clinical QA program, leveraging AI to enhance auditing and turn findings into actionable feedback for the clinician network. You'll develop frameworks to track patient and clinical outcomes, using data to continuously improve care quality and safety.
You'll also manage clinical patient-safety escalation protocols and active escalations, ensuring Wheel maintains consistent clinical standards. This role requires close collaboration with product and engineering teams as clinical tooling is built and refined.
You must hold an MD or DO from an accredited institution, board-certified in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Emergency Medicine, with substantial clinical practice experience including virtual care. You need prior clinical leadership experience managing teams directly in telehealth or high-volume virtual settings, hands-on QA program experience, and demonstrated ability to author and maintain clinical protocols. Basic proficiency with AI tools and an active medical license in good standing are required. You should be data-driven, comfortable reasoning from dashboards and outcomes, and energized by the evolution of modern medicine and virtual care delivery.
