Avo is an AI platform for healthcare enterprises that helps clinicians make better decisions and improve patient care by bringing together patient data, clinical knowledge, and AI-powered workflows at the point of care.
You will own the safety of Avo's AI-generated clinical content, deciding what "safe enough to ship" means for discharge summaries, pre-visit summaries, and decision-support modules. You will design grading rubrics, run evaluations, classify failures by clinical severity, and sign off before content reaches clinicians.
Approximately 85% of your time focuses on AI safety: defining safety standards for each product line, designing and running evaluation protocols for clinical AI modules (including hallucination detection, omission analysis, and accuracy checks), building and maintaining a clinical harm taxonomy with NCC MERP-style severity scoring, reviewing AI-generated content directly, owning the release gate with go/no-go safety assessments, investigating reported clinical errors and driving fixes, writing safety reports and validation summaries for buyers and clinical governance committees, and tracking the regulatory landscape (FDA, ONC, CHAI, Joint Commission).
The remaining 15% splits between building clinical modules in Avo's Studio (5-10%), applying evidence-based guidelines and practice experience while feeding learnings back into safety protocols, and serving as a sales-forward clinician (5-10%), joining prospect calls and pilot evaluations to explain how Avo's content is validated, presenting the safety program to CMIOs and clinical quality leaders, and challenging the status quo by naming where legacy workflows fail patients.
You report to the CMIO with a dotted line to the Chief Commercial Officer. Some travel is expected for customer meetings and demos, up to 10%.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Active clinical license (MD/DO, NP, or PA) with hands-on patient care experience
- 3-7 years of clinical practice; ability to quickly identify missed clinical details in documentation
- Experience with or strong interest in clinical AI, clinical decision support (CDS), or health informatics
- Testing mindset: designing rubrics, debating edge cases, finding errors
- Ability to write clear, defensible safety reports for clinical governance committees
- Comfort presenting to C-suite clinical leaders and answering pointed questions about AI failure modes
- Willingness to define the role's scope as the product and company grow
NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience with EHR systems (Epic, Meditech, Athena)
- Background in clinical informatics, quality improvement, or patient safety
- Prior experience in sales engineering, solutions, or customer-facing clinical roles
- Familiarity with AI/LLM evaluation methodologies
