Abnormal AI seeks a Media Relations Manager to own the company's media strategy and PR program across all tiers. You will build and maintain direct relationships with tier 1 AI, tech, business, and security reporters, as well as non-traditional media including podcasts, newsletters, YouTube creators, and emerging formats. This is a hands-on, individual contributor role combining strategy and execution. You will personally run day-to-day media outreach, including pitching, background briefings, trend pitches, and story placement. You'll position company executives as go-to sources on behavioral AI security and threat intelligence. Key responsibilities include: owning media relations end-to-end across tier 1 outlets and security trades; building and maintaining a structured view of key reporters covering AI and cybersecurity; running proactive pitching and reactive commentary opportunities; creating tier 1 media Q&As and bylines; serving as a second pen on press releases and executive messaging; prepping executives for interviews and writing in their voice; and partnering with Marketing and Customer Marketing teams to source storytelling opportunities. You'll work closely with Communications leadership and cross-functional partners, acting as the team's expert on the media landscape and news cycle. This role requires strong judgment on newsworthiness, excellent writing skills, comfort working directly with senior executives, and the ability to set strategy while operating autonomously with strong ownership instincts. Required: 4-7 years of media relations or PR experience with demonstrated relationships at tier 1 tech or business outlets; track record of proactive, relationship-driven media work; strong newsworthiness judgment; excellent writing for press releases, Q&As, and bylines; comfort writing in executive voice; ability to set strategy and execute autonomously; collaborative mindset. Preferred: familiarity with cybersecurity, AI, or enterprise SaaS; experience with podcasts, newsletters, or creator-driven media; experience managing external PR agencies; executive communications or C-suite media training background; experience in fast-moving, high-growth environments.
