Etched is building custom AI inference hardware—chips, racks, and manufacturing systems—for frontier intelligence workloads. As a Manufacturing Test Engineer on the Taiwan-based team, you will own electrical debug and failure analysis for AI systems at contract manufacturing partners, working hands-on at the factory floor from new-product introduction (NPI) through high-volume ramp.
You will troubleshoot and repair electronic assemblies (PCBA) down to the component level, isolate faults across module and server levels, and work directly with contract manufacturers and ODMs to close capability gaps and improve yield. Key responsibilities include: diagnosing and repairing boards; supporting factory bring-ups and first-article testing; setting up and operating test equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers); designing and implementing PCBA test fixtures; driving design-for-manufacturability (DFM) and design-for-test (DFT) improvements; maintaining detailed failure records and debug procedures; collaborating across Taiwan and San Jose teams to resolve recurring issues; and leading complex yield improvement initiatives.
You should have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, with 2–8 years of manufacturing test, product, or electrical engineering experience ideally gained inside factories or with CM/ODM partners. Required skills include hands-on board-level debug (schematics, circuits, PCB layouts), knowledge of system hardware architectures and PCB processes, experience with DFX/DFM and failure analysis, exposure to NPI and sustaining environments, and fluent English and Mandarin for cross-functional collaboration. Preferred qualifications include test fixture design experience, PCB CAD/CAE tools (Allegro, Valor), scripting for test automation (Python, Linux), and familiarity with high-performance compute or data center hardware.
The role requires flexibility to adjust schedules for critical build windows and travel domestically to CM/ODM sites on short notice. You will receive competitive market pay plus equity, comprehensive medical coverage, US onboarding at Silicon Valley headquarters with ongoing travel to San Jose, and direct ownership of test engineering for a first-of-its-kind AI product from prototype through volume production.
