Helion is a fusion power company on a mission to build the world's first commercial fusion power plant. Based in Everett, WA, the company has raised $1.5B from top-tier investors including Sam Altman, SoftBank, and Thrive Capital. Their prototype Polaris has achieved record-breaking plasma temperatures of 150 million degrees Celsius, and they are advancing toward their first commercial plant, Orion.
As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will design, implement, and optimize production processes for in-house capacitors—a critical component for Helion's power plant commissioning. This role offers direct influence on the timeline for the world's first fusion power plant and positions you to help establish manufacturing processes that will scale to mass production.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and implement rate-based assembly processes in collaboration with Production and Engineering teams
- Lead interdisciplinary projects to increase throughput and efficiency of the capacitor production line, including floor layout, tooling, build cells, and large-scale equipment decisions
- Develop new business processes for non-conformance management, process control, safety, and asset maintenance to support production scale-up
- Analyze production data (labor hours, cycle times, fallout rates) to identify bottlenecks and deploy solutions through design changes, process improvements, equipment upgrades, or automation
- Identify high-ROI manufacturing capabilities and partner with Production, Finance, Operations, and Facilities teams to implement them
- Support development of next-generation processes while optimizing current production line output
You will report to the Manager of Manufacturing Engineering and work onsite in Everett. This is a hands-on role requiring cradle-to-grave ownership of complex engineering and production scopes.
