Checkout.com is a global fintech platform powering over 10 billion transactions yearly for more than one billion shoppers. The company works behind the scenes for major brands like eBay, Spotify, Klarna, Uber, and Sony, enabling seamless digital payment experiences at scale.
You will lead strategic partnerships as a core growth engine for Checkout.com. This is a high-ownership role focused on originating, structuring, and closing partnerships that drive measurable revenue impact. You will operate as a single-threaded owner across the entire partnership lifecycle—from initial sourcing through commercial structuring, negotiation, signature, and go-live.
Key Responsibilities:
**Deal Origination & Ownership:** Source and develop high-impact partnerships (advisories, ISVs, fintechs, system integrators, agencies). Lead end-to-end partnership cycles with clear commercial outcomes: sourced/influenced revenue, pipeline contribution, conversion rates, partner growth, and profitability.
**Commercial Structuring & Negotiation:** Design scalable partnership models (referral, reseller, embedded). Navigate complex negotiations across commercial, legal, and operational dimensions. Balance short-term revenue against long-term strategic positioning with bulletproof forecasting and deal logic.
**Cross-Functional Leadership:** Act as the single-threaded owner across Sales, Legal, Product, Partner Engineering, and Marketing. Drive momentum, remove blockers, and ensure internal alignment for launch (onboarding, integration, enablement, go-to-market).
**Performance Management:** Track and manage performance against targets (Net Revenue, Total Processed Volume, Product Penetration, Conversion Rate). Identify and execute growth levers. Recognition is based on live merchants and revenue delivery, not pipeline logos.
**Operational Excellence:** Maintain high standards in forecasting accuracy, CRM hygiene, and reporting. Contribute to building repeatable frameworks (tiering, integration health, GTM motions). Raise the bar on quality across the team.
What Success Looks Like:
- You own your number and consistently deliver against it
- You operate with speed and clarity, even in ambiguity
- You create momentum without waiting for direction
- You move seamlessly from strategy to execution to revenue
- You build credible relationships internally and externally to close deals
The company operates a hybrid model with three days per week in the London office. Checkout.com has 20 offices across six continents and emphasizes high ownership, fewer blockers, and meaningful work from day one.
**Requirements:**
- Experience in partnerships, business development, or strategic sales in payments, fintech, SaaS, or platforms
- Track record of closing complex, multi-stakeholder deals (preferred)
- Experience structuring commercial models (revenue share, reseller, embedded partnerships)
- Strong commercial acumen and understanding of revenue and margin drivers
- Solid negotiation skills with ability to hold ground while progressing deals
- Ability to operate in cross-functional, high-ambiguity environments
- High attention to detail with no tolerance for approximation
- Owner mentality with accountability and no excuses
- Performance-driven focus on outcomes, not activity
- Low ego, high standards; direct, constructive, and solution-oriented
- Comfortable being challenged and challenging back when needed
