Fanatics is a global digital sports platform serving over 100 million sports fans through commerce, collectibles, and betting/gaming. As Manager of Revenue Accounting Operations within Fanatics Betting & Gaming, you will lead revenue accounting execution and scaling in a complex, highly regulated, data-intensive environment.
You will own critical revenue accounting processes including monthly close execution, review controls, audit coordination, and data integrity validation. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Revenue, this role sits at the intersection of technical accounting and data-driven operations, requiring both GL expertise and technical fluency (SQL/Snowflake).
Key responsibilities include:
**Data Analysis & Systems Ownership:** Own data flows and system dependencies underlying financial reporting with source-to-GL traceability. Independently query and validate large transaction datasets to support close, reconciliations, and control testing. Analyze revenue results and variances to surface actionable insights. Partner with Data Engineering and Analytics to build scalable, automated accounting workflows. Identify and drive resolution of upstream data quality issues.
**Revenue Close & Controls:** Execute the monthly revenue close process ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and GAAP compliance. Review revenue share calculations, account reconciliations, and AR matching. Develop processes for journal entry preparation and recording. Maintain process documentation and ensure SOX control readiness as the business scales.
**Audit & Regulatory:** Coordinate external audit requests including PBCs, walkthroughs, and follow-ups. Serve as revenue accounting lead for state audits and regulatory reviews. Maintain audit-ready documentation connecting transactional data to reported balances.
**Cross-Functional & Strategic:** Support new product launches, cost of revenue analysis, and ad-hoc accounting requests. Partner with senior leaders across data, tax, treasury, legal, and FP&A to provide accounting guidance on new business activities.
**Team Leadership:** Provide hands-on leadership to a team of revenue accounting professionals, balancing direct execution with coaching, review, and team development.
You are a collaborative accounting professional equally comfortable in a GL and writing SQL queries. You bring strong interpersonal skills, excellent prioritization and influencing abilities, and thrive in high-growth, fast-paced environments. Strong communication skills are essential to facilitate information flow between business functions and accounting/finance teams.
