The Nuclear Company is a Series A-funded AI-enabled startup pioneering fleet-scale nuclear reactor development through a design-once, build-many model. The Manager, Project Risk Management will design, implement, and lead a comprehensive risk management framework across the company's project portfolio.
Reporting to the Director of Project Controls, this role owns the end-to-end risk management function, working cross-functionally with project leadership and senior management to identify, assess, prioritize, and mitigate risks that could impact project execution. Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining project risk management policies applicable across the fleet, establishing risk registers and key risk indicators, conducting periodic risk assessments using qualitative and quantitative methodologies, and preparing risk reports for both project and senior leadership teams.
The Manager will facilitate risk workshops and scenario planning sessions across all project workstreams and functional areas, ensuring project-level risks roll up appropriately into enterprise risk categories. The role also involves tracking risk response plans, monitoring mitigation progress, evaluating control effectiveness, and promoting a risk-aware culture through training and communication.
The ideal candidate brings 8–12 years of experience in risk management, internal audit, compliance, or consulting, with deep understanding of risk frameworks such as COSO ERM and ISO 31000. A bachelor's degree is required; an MBA, JD, or MS in Risk Management is preferred. Strong analytical capabilities, executive presence, excellent communication and facilitation skills, and the ability to translate complex risk concepts into actionable insights are essential.
