Beacon Software is building essential technology infrastructure for the everyday economy—niche, founder-built vertical market software companies serving overlooked industries. The company acquires, operates, and grows these businesses with an AI-native platform, holding them permanently rather than flipping them. Backed by $550M+ in funding from General Catalyst, Lightspeed, D1 Capital, and family offices of Stripe, DoorDash, and Ramp founders, Beacon combines technology entrepreneurship with long-term private equity investment.
As Manager of Origination, you will own and drive Beacon's acquisition pipeline within a defined set of verticals, leading end-to-end sourcing and relationship management. This is a high-autonomy role shaping how Beacon identifies, engages, and closes relationships with exceptional software businesses.
Key responsibilities include: owning deal origination efforts for assigned verticals; building and nurturing long-term relationships with software entrepreneurs to understand their business challenges and growth catalysts; supporting initial evaluation of acquisition targets through financial and operational analysis; maintaining and growing the deal pipeline through active sourcing; and collaborating with M&A and leadership teams throughout due diligence and execution.
You will gain a seat at the table with Beacon's investment team, direct influence over acquisition strategy in your verticals, and the opportunity to lead a small team after establishing traction. You'll work directly with Silicon Valley product and engineering teams on technology-driven diligence and underwriting. Compensation includes meaningful economics tied to deal outcomes and overall business performance. You'll receive mentorship from founders and operators who have scaled businesses from seed through $10B+ IPOs, in an environment that rewards initiative, values judgment over hierarchy, and invests in long-term people development.
Beacon's culture emphasizes humility (learning from anyone), honesty (trust-based relationships), hunger (high standards and accountability), and horizon (building a generational company through compounding growth).

- 5–10 years of experience in business development, M&A origination, investment banking, or private equity, with strong focus on software or technology sector
- Demonstrated track record of independently identifying and sourcing investment opportunities or strategic partnerships
- Strong commercial acumen: ability to assess software businesses, identify value creation themes, and communicate clearly on opportunities with underwriting teams
- Genuine passion for entrepreneurship, technology, and long-term compounding potential of great software businesses
