Salary: USD 160,000 - 195,000 / annual
Crusoe is seeking a Data Center Design Manager to optimize data center designs across space, power, and cost constraints. This role bridges engineering and business, requiring partnership with Manufacturing, Engineering, Finance, Supply Chain, and Operations teams to ensure design decisions reflect real commercial trade-offs.
Key responsibilities include leading trade-off analysis for new data center designs to increase compute density per rack and square foot while maintaining reliability; translating commercial requirements (cost targets, delivery timelines, customer commitments) into concrete design specifications; partnering with electrical and mechanical engineering teams to evaluate power distribution and cooling architectures (air, liquid, immersion); building and maintaining cost models comparing design alternatives on total installed cost and cost per kW, rack, and square foot; developing repeatable design standards and reference architectures for deployment across sites; assessing new data center technologies for potential improvements in density, cost, or deployment speed; and running design review sessions with Engineering, Operations, and business stakeholders.
Required qualifications include 7+ years in data center design, engineering, or infrastructure planning with direct exposure to power, cooling, and space optimization trade-offs; strong understanding of data center electrical and mechanical systems including power distribution, UPS, cooling architectures, and structural considerations; demonstrated experience partnering with commercial teams to translate cost and timeline constraints into engineering decisions; comfort building and using cost models to compare design alternatives quantitatively; excellent cross-functional communication skills; and a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Structural Engineering, Architecture, or related field. Experience with high-density compute environments (AI/ML, HPC, GPU-dense infrastructure) is strongly preferred.
