Salary: USD 129,000 - 171,000 / annual
Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking a Manager of Environmental Safety and Health to lead EHS programs at a newly constructed multi-building manufacturing campus. The role is initially based in Costa Mesa, CA (Anduril HQ) for at least the first year, with eventual relocation to Long Beach, CA as operations scale.
You will develop and implement comprehensive Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) programs ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Working closely with real estate, facilities, manufacturing, and R&D teams, you'll establish safety and environmental risk mitigation protocols from the ground up during campus construction, then transition to ongoing operational oversight as teams move in.
Key responsibilities include leading and managing the EHS department (hiring, coaching, performance management, development), conducting accident and incident investigations with root cause analysis, serving as the primary EHS liaison with employees, managers, customers, auditors, and regulators, identifying workplace hazards through safety inspections, collaborating across departments to promote safe behaviors, managing hazardous waste handling and compliance, and ensuring adherence to safety standards including hazard communication, fall protection, respiratory protection, LOTO, machine guarding, electrical safety, emergency response, and chemical management.
Required qualifications: 5+ years implementing and overseeing EHS programs, team leadership experience, Cal/OSHA expertise, knowledge of 40 CFR Parts 260-279 (Hazardous Waste Management), strong written and verbal communication skills, ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines, and U.S. Person status (required for access to export-controlled sites).
Preferred: manufacturing experience, DoD program background, comfort building systems from scratch, willingness to challenge status quo, and a proactive problem-solving mindset.
