Figma is seeking a Design Manager to lead its internal Design Systems and Infrastructure organization. This is a senior people leadership role responsible for stewarding the foundations, tokens, variables, component libraries, tooling, governance, and shared infrastructure that enable Figma's design and product teams to create with quality and coherence at scale.
You will lead designers across multiple design workstreams, set strategic direction through a complex organizational transformation, and partner deeply with Design, Product, and Engineering leadership to drive adoption and execution. The role balances system coherence with the autonomy product teams need to solve distinct problems effectively.
Key responsibilities include: leading and growing a team of designers focused on design systems foundations; setting an ambitious vision and quality bar for system evolution; partnering with cross-functional leaders on strategy, resourcing, and technical direction; bringing clarity to ambiguous, cross-functional work; evolving the design systems operating model including governance, contribution paths, and adoption practices; hiring, coaching, and developing an exceptional team; and representing design systems perspective in broader organizational decisions.
Required qualifications: 4+ years of design management experience with direct people leadership across multiple workstreams and a strong track record of hiring and developing designers; technical fluency with design foundations, tokens, variables, component libraries, and system architecture; experience evolving internal design systems at scale and driving adoption across large product organizations; deep hands-on Figma expertise with high agency and end-to-end ownership; and experience connecting coded component systems with design libraries and design-to-code workflows.
Preferred qualifications include experience building token pipelines, creating internal tooling and automation, and building shared platform or infrastructure services that other teams depend on.
