Branch is seeking a credentialed actuary to lead the pricing function and manage the day-to-day execution of rate indications for home and auto insurance. You will own the rate indication process, execute rate changes across all states and lines, and drive segmentation work that sharpens pricing over time. Reporting to the VP of Actuarial, you will manage a team of actuarial analysts and collaborate closely with Product, Underwriting, Finance, and Accounting teams. This is a hands-on role where you run the work directly rather than overseeing from a distance, operating at a pace significantly faster than traditional carriers. Rate changes can move from proposal to filing in weeks rather than quarters. You will inherit existing tools, models, and processes and are expected to take ownership quickly while making continuous improvements. Key responsibilities include owning the quarterly rate indication process, executing the annual rate plan with state-by-state and line-by-line reviews, delivering filing materials to the product team, researching and developing new segmentation and rating models, maintaining pricing methodology and rate adequacy, establishing actuarial policies and workflows, identifying system and tool improvements, supporting catastrophe load and reinsurance analyses, conducting financial analyses to inform underwriting strategy, and leading team development. You will operate with real autonomy within established frameworks, make methodology and execution calls independently, and escalate decisions with broader business implications. You must communicate complex actuarial findings clearly to non-technical audiences including senior management and regulators. Required qualifications: ACAS (Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society) minimum; typically 6+ years of progressive actuarial experience with demonstrated ownership; management experience with at least one direct report; deep technical expertise in P&C actuarial pricing, trend analysis, segmentation, and predictive modeling; track record of taking indications through to filed rate changes; proficiency in R for analysis; and strong communication skills. Experience with Akur8 or other model-building platforms is a plus. Catastrophe risk exposure is beneficial but not required. Branch is remote-first with headquarters in Columbus, Ohio, and additional office space in Missouri and Illinois. The company is open to candidates in multiple states including Ohio, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, and Wisconsin.
