Motorway is the UK's largest online car-selling platform, connecting private sellers with over 8,000 dealers nationwide. Founded in 2017 and backed by leading technology investors with £143 million in Series C funding, the company is scaling rapidly and seeking a Management Accountant to join the Operational Finance team. In this role, you will own the month-end close process, delivering accurate financial reporting in line with UK GAAP/IFRS standards. You'll manage monthly journals, accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations in NetSuite, while partnering with the Accounts Receivable Manager to reconcile complex, multi-channel revenue streams. You'll prepare monthly management accounts with actionable commentary for Finance leadership and work alongside the FP&A team to deliver variance analysis against budget and forecast. You'll support annual budgeting and rolling forecast cycles, acting as a key finance partner to operational teams by translating financial data into commercial insights. Compliance responsibilities include completing quarterly VAT returns, managing UK tax compliance, supporting external audit preparation, and assisting with statutory reporting including SECR/carbon reporting and ONS survey submissions. You'll also identify process bottlenecks and help implement system and process automation to support company growth. This role is ideal for a recently qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) making their first move from practice into a fast-paced scale-up, or an experienced Management Accountant seeking a varied, high-impact role in tech. You'll need advanced Excel/Google Sheets proficiency, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to build cross-functional relationships. Experience with NetSuite, multi-stream revenue reconciliations, or tech/marketplace business models is a plus.
