The Exploration Company is building innovative aerospace technologies for space transportation, including the Nyx Earth and Nyx Moon vehicles. As an Additive Manufacturing Engineer, you will play a key role in developing, qualifying, and industrializing Laser Powder Bed Fusion (LPBF) technologies for critical aerospace hardware. You will own the manufacturing and qualification of mission-critical flight hardware, developing and optimizing LPBF processes for high-performance alloys including nickel-based superalloys, titanium alloys, and copper alloys. Your responsibilities include defining and managing material characterization campaigns, supporting test execution, and analyzing resulting data. You will handle build preparation, LPBF process simulation, and process monitoring data analysis. You will execute qualification and certification activities for additive manufacturing hardware in accordance with aerospace requirements and NASA regulations, working across the full lifecycle from manufacturability assessment through production readiness. This involves troubleshooting manufacturing challenges, driving continuous improvement in process capability and quality, and authoring technical documentation. You will collaborate closely with Design Engineering, Materials & Processes, Quality, Testing, and Manufacturing teams, as well as external suppliers, laboratories, and certification bodies. This is a technically demanding role with direct impact on flight hardware development and future production scalability. Required qualifications include a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Aerospace Engineering, or related field. You must have hands-on experience with metal LPBF systems in an industrial environment, experience in LPBF process development and part verification, and knowledge of material characterization methodologies. Proficiency in CAD (particularly Siemens NX) and PLM tools like Teamcenter is valued. Strong communication, analytical problem-solving, and collaboration skills are essential, with fluency in English required. Preferred qualifications include 3+ years of experience in LPBF process and hardware qualification for aerospace propulsion systems, understanding of Design for Additive Manufacturing (DFAM) principles, and hands-on experience in machine operation and metallography.
