Salary: USD 212,000 - 293,000 / annual
Adyen is seeking a Machine Learning Engineering Manager to lead the Credit Risk Modeling team within the Financial Products organization in San Francisco. This is a hands-on leadership role focused on building and scaling credit risk models and decision systems that power Adyen's credit products.
You will lead a team of machine learning scientists and data engineers responsible for the full model lifecycle: research, data analysis, training, deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement. Your responsibilities include:
- Provide hands-on technical leadership to the Credit Risk Modeling team, driving architecture strategy and mentoring team members on engineering best practices and scalable design
- Work cross-functionally with Design, Product, Data Engineers, Product Engineers, Credit Ops, and other stakeholders to align on requirements and roadmaps
- Coach and mentor team members on technical excellence, product thinking, and career development
- Build and maintain an inclusive team culture emphasizing autonomy, ownership, collaboration, and impact
- Design and implement new pipelines and services with reliability, infrastructure, and data considerations
- Set clear individual and team goals aligned with strategic engineering ambitions in collaboration with product leadership
- Foster an open communication and feedback culture that inspires collaboration
- Recruit and onboard new team members who align with Adyen's culture and required skills

REQUIREMENTS:
- 2+ years of experience managing machine learning engineering teams in a mission-critical environment
- 7+ years of experience in ML/AI tech environments
- Experience with credit underwriting
- Proven experience working with and deep understanding of machine learning products
- Experience creating alignment between multiple teams
- Ability to define, implement, and monitor performance to identify improvement opportunities
- Experience coaching and mentoring engineering talent
- Experience leading technical projects in fast-paced, critical environments
- Experience collaborating with senior leadership on strategic direction and product roadmaps
- Excellent communication skills and ability to explain technical concepts to non-engineers
