GetYourGuide is the globally leading marketplace for travel experiences, with over 150 million bookings since 2009. The company is headquartered in Berlin with 17 local offices worldwide and a team of 1000+ travel experts and technologists.
The User Platform team is building a traveler context layer that consolidates fragmented user data—identity, booking history, browsing behavior, preferences, and predictions—into a shared, interpretable, and predictive understanding that internal teams can build upon. Currently, this information sits in separate systems, forcing each team to rebuild partial versions. This platform will serve as the foundation for personalization across GetYourGuide.
As Lead Product Manager, you will own the vision and strategy for this new platform and be the first product manager on the team. You will work with an Engineering Manager, engineers, an embedded data scientist, and an analyst to define what the traveler context layer holds, how it is served, and which problems it solves first. This is a genuine zero-to-one opportunity: the identity model, semantic memory for both humans and LLMs, forward-looking predictions, and self-serve interfaces are all still to be designed.
The work is equal parts product craft and demand creation. Your internal consumers are other teams—search and ranking, lifecycle and paid channels, customer care, and the traveler experience—whose needs are real but often poorly defined. You will need to help them articulate what would truly solve their problems.
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop and own a 12+ month vision and strategy for the traveler context domain, identifying non-incremental impact and sequencing the roadmap accordingly
- Operate in an ambiguous domain being defined as you build it; break open-ended platform problems into phased, coherent plans and make confident calls with incomplete information
- Prioritize the few use cases that prove the platform while being explicit about what will not be built; balance depth against breadth and sequence to maximize learning
- Build trust with consuming teams across Growth, Retention, Search, Care, and Supply; negotiate ownership boundaries and manage dependencies
- Make the platform legible to the company and create demand by showing teams what becomes possible, then convert that into committed adoption
- Set the technical bar for the team and work credibly with data scientists and engineers on identity resolution, feature and embedding design, and serving architecture
- Validate the layer with real consumers and real traffic; design tests that demonstrate a shared representation outperforms local copies
- Represent user and internal consumer interests at all organizational levels; act with openness and transparency; coach others on platform product craft
You should be fluent in data and machine learning without needing to be a data scientist, comfortable when domain scope is still being drawn, and focused on building the foundation that personalization at GetYourGuide will run on for years.
Requirements:
- 6+ years of professional experience in product management, including at least 2 years at Lead level or with equivalent scope, and meaningful time spent on data, machine learning, or platform products
- Demonstrated ownership of a product area whose users are other teams (internal platform, API, or data product), including strategy, KPI definition, goal setting, and adoption—not only delivery
- Strong data literacy: comfortable querying and interpreting large datasets, designing experiments, and working day-to-day with data scientists and analysts
- Working understanding of the machine learning lifecycle and how it differs from software delivery; judgment to know when analytics and good heuristics are the better answer
- Track record of building alignment across large and varied stakeholder groups, including senior leadership
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Bonus: experience with customer data platforms, identity resolution, segmentation, or personalization systems
- Bonus: experience putting LLMs into production
- Bonus: experience in a marketplace or two-sided platform
- Bonus: engineering or analytics background
