Scribd is hiring a Lead Product Manager to own the Everand app, a subscription service for audiobooks and ebooks with millions of loyal readers. You'll set the long-term vision for the app across iOS and Android, own the reader experience across every surface, and lead execution from strategy to launch. The goal is to build an app readers love, where they choose their next book and keep coming back, while reaching millions more book lovers who haven't yet found a product like Everand.
In this role, you will:
- Develop deep understanding of Everand's readers: what motivates them, why they stay, and why they leave, using that insight to inform every decision.
- Set vision, strategy, and roadmap for the app and own the reader experience from first open to their next book.
- Lead a squad of engineers, designers, researchers, and analysts; own execution by setting goals, making trade-offs, and shipping well-made work on time.
- Work as an AI-native PM, using AI to speed up research, prototyping, and analysis, and bringing it into the product where it helps readers.
- Identify the biggest opportunities to make Everand more valuable for current readers and new audiences.
- Manage a balanced portfolio of long-term bets and near-term improvements; test ideas with readers early and measure success by behavior change.
- Maintain high standards for app quality, performance, and reliability.
- Partner with product, engineering, content, and marketing teams to deliver a consistent experience.
- Bring your squad, partner teams, and leadership along on your strategy, adapting as you learn.
Scribd operates on a Scribd Flex model with occasional in-person attendance required for all employees. The company values a culture of GRIT: setting and achieving Goals, delivering Results, contributing Innovative ideas, and strengthening the Team through collaboration.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 7+ years of product management experience on consumer products, including 3+ years owning a consumer native mobile app used by hundreds of thousands of people or more.
- Deep obsession with consumer apps; ability to explain what makes the best ones good and demonstrate this in product decisions.
- Understanding of your audience by what motivates them; track record of changing decisions after time with users.
- Proven track record of moving an outcome metric you owned (retention, engagement, conversion, etc.).
- Experience leading product through major change (platform rebuild, redesign, move into new audience).
- Strong product craft: work with design from the start, ship consumer experiences people return to.
- AI-native mindset: AI is part of your daily work; you have a point of view on where it improves consumer products and where human touch matters more.
- Experience with A/B testing and research; ability to set clear metrics and guardrails, knowing when to rely on qualitative research or judgment.
- Comfort with technical trade-offs including performance, reliability, and recommendation/personalization systems.
- Ability to influence without authority across product, engineering, marketing, and leadership.
- Clear writing and prioritization skills; ability to make the case for a bet and what to leave out.
- Passion for books and reading.
NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience with subscription businesses (trials, plans, retention, churn).
- Experience with audio, video, podcast, or reading apps including players and offline use.
- Experience shipping discovery surfaces (home, browse, search, personalized feeds).
- Experience with community or social features in consumer products.
