MURAL is seeking a Lead Product Designer focused on Growth (Upper Funnel) to define how the platform earns user trust at critical moments—first encounter, deeper engagement, and retention. This is an end-to-end growth journey ownership role spanning discovery, activation, pricing surfaces, onboarding, upgrade flows, lifecycle touchpoints, and in-product nudges.
As a player-coach, you'll balance hands-on design work with direct management of 1–3 designers. Your individual contributor responsibilities include defining high-quality, user-centered discovery and monetization experiences; working from concept to production with polished prototypes; using behavioral data as a primary design input; designing and leading experiments across acquisition, activation, and expansion funnels; establishing reusable growth patterns in the design system; and partnering with engineers on implementation.
Your coaching responsibilities involve running 1:1s, setting goals, giving performance feedback, and supporting career growth for direct reports. You'll model how to hold craft and commercial intent simultaneously, mentor designers on growth-adjacent surfaces, contribute to how the team understands growth design as a discipline, and champion the relationship between growth quality and product quality.
You'll also lead hybrid responsibilities: reframing problems at the funnel level, leading workshops on pricing and onboarding, collaborating with product/research/data to define success metrics and interpret experiment outcomes, and advocating for user trust as a growth asset. You'll share growth approaches with peers through critique and collaboration, and contribute to a culture of design excellence where growth and monetization intersect with core product.
Required: 8+ years of product design experience in SaaS, productivity tools, collaboration software, or product-led growth environments. Track record of leading growth, monetization, or conversion-focused design work. Deep fluency in funnel thinking (acquisition, activation, retention, expansion as a connected system). Comfort in fast-moving, experiment-driven environments. Experience designing in-product discovery, onboarding, sign-up, or activation flows. Exceptional craft in visual clarity, spacing, motion, and interaction polish. Strong interaction design and systems thinking. Ability to partner with product and data teams to interpret behavioral insights and experiment results. Curiosity, proactive problem-solving, empathy for first-time users, and strong cross-functional communication.
