Step is a consumer fintech company on a mission to improve the financial future of the next generation. Now part of Beast Industries (founded by MrBeast), Step is positioned for significant growth and scale. The company operates a design-focused banking platform spanning physical products, digital products, and mobile apps.
You will lead the overall product, design, and UX strategy for Step's core banking platform. This is a hands-on role where you'll design high-quality interactive experiences across iOS, Android, and web, leading projects from creative conception through production and release. You'll collaborate closely with Product, Engineering, and Marketing teams to define strategy and roadmap, influence product direction, and help rally cross-functional teams around elegant, innovative mobile solutions.
Key responsibilities include designing end-to-end consumer experiences, leading design on individual features and making strategic design decisions, collaborating with other designers to push quality standards, evaluating and improving design processes, and contributing to Step's design system. You'll think systemically about solutions that scale across products and create consistency beyond individual features.
Ideal candidates bring significant demonstrated experience with end-to-end (hybrid UX and UI) product design for consumer-facing products, ideally in consumer fintech. You should be a craft-obsessed designer with strong visual sensibility, excellent communication skills, and the ability to think strategically about product vision—not just aesthetics. Experience leading design for important projects, delegating to other designers, and building scalable design systems is valued. Comfort with AI as a creative and productivity tool is important. A portfolio is required.
The role reports to the Head of Design. Remote (US) or San Mateo, CA with occasional travel for team offsites. Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
