Spendesk is seeking a Lead Product Designer to shape the future of its product experience, with a focus on AI-powered and automation-driven workflows. You'll work across multiple connected squads or a significant product area, partnering with Product Managers, Engineers, and designers to create coherent experiences and help teams solve valuable customer and business problems.
This role requires strong product thinking, systems thinking, and design leadership. You'll connect insights and opportunities across teams, influence product direction, and bring clarity to complex problems that span squad boundaries. You'll remain hands-on, leading critical discovery and design initiatives while establishing principles, standards, and shared understanding that enable others to make strong decisions independently.
As a senior individual contributor, you'll lead through your craft, judgment, communication, and influence rather than formal people management. You'll help other designers grow through coaching, feedback, and sponsorship.
Key responsibilities include: shaping product and experience direction across multiple squads; connecting customer insight, product strategy, and business objectives to identify high-impact opportunities; aligning cross-functional teams around shared problems and success measures; leading complex design initiatives across discovery, exploration, delivery, and iteration; creating coherent end-to-end experiences and resolving systemic UX issues; establishing and upholding strong standards for interaction design, information architecture, accessibility, and visual quality; improving cross-squad collaboration by surfacing dependencies and facilitating decisions; and coaching designers to grow in autonomy, craft, and organizational influence.
You'll need significant experience designing complex digital products in cross-functional teams (typically 7+ years), demonstrated experience leading design across multiple squads or substantial product domains, strong product and strategic thinking, excellent systems thinking and interaction design skills, a track record of using research and evidence to influence product direction, excellent communication and facilitation abilities, and experience coaching designers.
Nice-to-have qualifications include experience with AI-assisted or agentic product experiences, fintech or spend management background, experience shaping complex platform ecosystems, familiarity with experimentation and data-informed development, and experience with design-system governance.
Spendesk offers a flexible hybrid work model across London, Paris, Barcelona, or Berlin, competitive compensation, equity, and opportunities to grow in product, design, and AI innovation.
