Circle is building an all-in-one platform for online communities, enabling creators, coaches, educators, and businesses to bring together their audiences with discussions, live streams, events, chat, courses, and payments—all under their own brand. The company is fully remote with ~200 team members across 30+ countries. You will own design for one of Circle's most important product areas end-to-end: defining the problem, shaping direction, and shipping the experience. You'll report to the product design organization and serve as the most senior design individual contributor on your product area, partnering directly with product managers, engineers, and design leadership. As the team grows, you'll raise the bar for designers around you. Key responsibilities include: - Own a product area end-to-end: identify opportunities, frame problems, set design direction, and ship as a peer to Product and Engineering - Design complex, multi-step flows serving multiple user types (balancing creator and member needs) - Prototype and test at speed using AI-assisted tools and code-generation workflows - Influence product strategy beyond your surface: contribute to roadmap conversations and flag cross-product opportunities - Drive craft standards on your area: interaction design, visual quality, and polish - Collaborate closely with engineers and design engineers to turn concepts into shippable experiences - Raise the bar for the broader design team through feedback and shared frameworks Circle's design team works with AI tools daily—exploring directions, prototyping with code-generation, and stress-testing ideas faster than traditional workflows. The company is fully distributed, highly async, and emphasizes documentation and asynchronous collaboration across time zones. Twice yearly, the entire company gathers for offsites in locations around the world. Required qualifications: - 5–7+ years of product design experience with portfolio demonstrating systems-level thinking, shipped 0→1 work, complex multi-user flows, and evidence of shaping product direction - Experience operating as the most senior designer on a product area, setting direction and owning outcomes - Strong prototyping skills; you build clickable, realistic prototypes yourself (bonus: AI-assisted tools like Cursor, Claude Code, v0, Lovable) - Proficiency in Figma for high-fidelity design and collaboration - Exceptional written and verbal communication; ability to explain complex ideas, influence decisions, and align teams asynchronously - Comfortable designing in ambiguity and building conviction through iteration - Active, evolving AI workflow—you already use AI tools in your design process - CEFR Level C2 / ILR Level 5 English proficiency
