Rhoda AI is building generalist intelligent robots with a full robotics stack spanning hardware, systems, and foundation world models. The company has raised over $450M and is scaling aggressively across model research, infrastructure, hardware development, and manufacturing.
As the Hand Team's lead engineer, you will own the complete mechatronic architecture of the hand system—the senior technical role on the team. You will set the system architecture, make critical cross-subsystem tradeoffs, and lead three specialist engineers (actuator, structures, and electrical) to ship the hand system.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning the mechatronic architecture and kinematic design of the hand system
- Defining and safeguarding the hand's kinematic architecture across the program lifecycle
- Leading mechanical design of wearable and teleoperation hardware with attention to operator ergonomics
- Setting subsystem requirements and driving integration across actuation, structures, and electronics
- Driving prototyping, testing, and design iteration across the hand program
- Technically mentoring the actuator, structures, and electrical engineers on your team
You bring hands-on experience designing humanoid or dexterous robotic hands with multi-degree-of-freedom mechanisms. You have demonstrated mechanical design experience with teleoperation exoskeletons or comparable wearable mechanisms, and experience designing human-body attachment and ergonomic interfaces for wearable devices. You possess systems-level fluency across all hand subsystems—structures, actuation, and electronics—with the judgment to make informed cross-domain tradeoffs.
Nice-to-have experience includes taking robotic or consumer hardware from prototype through production, familiarity with haptics, motion capture, or wearable data-capture systems, and prior technical leadership or mentorship of a small hardware team.
