You will join the FP&A team as a senior individual contributor owning R&D finance end-to-end. This is a high-impact role reporting to the VP of FP&A, embedded with Engineering and Product leadership to drive financial discipline around product development and innovation spend.
Key responsibilities include: building and owning the forecasting and budgeting process for R&D and product development, replacing ad hoc estimates with repeatable, driver-based models; serving as the embedded finance partner to Engineering and Product leadership, translating roadmap and headcount decisions into financial impact; leading ROI and capacity planning analysis for R&D investments to inform funding decisions; establishing forecasts and tracking for software and product development costs in partnership with Accounting; building headcount and hiring plans for Engineering and Product tied to budget and roadmap milestones; and developing trusted senior-level relationships with R&D and Product leaders to influence spend decisions proactively.
You will also lead high-priority, cross-functional special projects at the CFO and President level, including margin expansion, unit economics, pricing, and profitability studies. These analyses often have compressed timelines and direct executive visibility.
Ideal candidates bring 7+ years in FP&A, corporate finance, or strategic finance with real ownership of a budget or spend area end-to-end. You understand R&D finance fluency—forecasting and controlling engineering and product development spend, including capitalized vs. expensed R&D costs. You have hardware and SaaS fluency, understanding gross margin dynamics across both COGS structures and recurring-revenue models. You are a trusted cross-functional partner who builds real relationships with technical leaders and holds your own in rooms with VPs and above. You are comfortable with ambiguity, thrive in fast-moving environments, and bring scrappy, hands-on problem-solving.
