Razorpay, one of India's leading fintech companies, is hiring a Lead Communication Designer to lead its product marketing design pod within the in-house creative studio. The pod creates product marketing content, go-to-market campaigns, feature launches, and advertising campaigns across Razorpay's product suite and countries.
You will lead a high-performing team of motion designers, art directors, editors, and AI builders—a team that has won awards at ET Brand Disruption Awards 2026, Kyoorius, Effie, and the Shorty Awards. Your role combines art direction, brand building through campaigns, and hands-on AI integration.
Key responsibilities include:
Art Direction & Brand: Set creative direction for product marketing content, GTMs, feature launches, and advertising campaigns across countries (shoots, storyboards, motion, edit, type, color). Own pod-level charters end-to-end across products like Payment Gateway, Cross Border, POS, Engage, Cards, and RazorpayX. Participate in Razorpay brand and ad campaigns, leading flagship moments like FTX and IPL. Shape briefs with product marketing managers—challenge weak positioning, sharpen narrative, and pitch campaigns proactively. Turn campaign wins into reusable brand systems (visual languages, imagery styles, motion kits).
AI at Scale: Push tools like Midjourney, Nano Banana, Runway, Higgsfield, and Seedance beyond generic output to deliver brand-quality videos, campaigns, and product identities. Build web experiences, tools, and automations with Claude and Gemini through APIs or MCPs, including pipelines for variants, localization, and resizes. Decide which tools the studio adopts, document workflows, and train the team.
Team Leadership: Lead junior designers day-to-day with sprint sheets, weekly workload planning, and reviews. Coach them in art direction and AI; delegate BAU and build SOPs for scalable quality. Raise scope, timeline, and quality risks with stakeholders early and directly. Foster a fun, social studio culture with jams, show-and-tells, and celebration of good work. Help with hiring.
First-year success metrics: core design leadership for two major events; one or two national or global awards for the studio; strong design direction across campaigns; multiple mini AI automation projects shipped.
Requirements:
- Design degree from NID or similar design school
- 6–8 years in communication design, art direction, or brand design, ideally across in-house brand teams and creative/advertising agencies
- Portfolio demonstrating strong art direction: campaigns and films where you shaped look, story, and tone
- Proven record of building or evolving a brand through campaign work with measurable results (reach, awards, adoption, business impact)
- Strong across graphics, motion, video, and landing pages
- Production experience with Midjourney, Nano Banana, Runway, Higgsfield, and Seedance; automation building with Claude or Gemini through APIs or MCPs
- Led a team of 3–5 designers, animators, or video editors day-to-day with demonstrated team growth
- Confident with senior stakeholders: can push back on weak briefs, pitch ideas to leadership, and win the room
- Warm, social, and fun to work with
Bonus: live-action or 3D product direction; B2B, fintech, or SaaS brand experience; games, interactive, or experiential work; public sharing of AI work.
