Salary: USD 143,000 - 180,000 / annual
Grafana Labs is seeking a Senior Product Designer to lead design for the Knowledge Graph product within Grafana Cloud, a fully managed observability platform trusted by over 10,000 organizations including Anthropic, Bloomberg, NVIDIA, Microsoft, and Salesforce.
You will design experiences for Grafana Cloud's context layer, which powers the entity graph, entity catalog, and RCA (Root Cause Analysis) workbench. The Knowledge Graph automatically discovers services, infrastructure, and databases from existing telemetry, maps their dependencies, and runs anomaly detection. Your work will enable engineers, SREs, and AI agents to understand their systems and resolve incidents faster without writing queries or maintaining alert rules.
Key responsibilities include:
- Enabling customers to easily understand and explore how their systems interconnect, finding clear ways to present complex, constantly-changing information without overwhelming users
- Translating research and data into digestible experiences that break down complexity
- Tailoring experiences for different target audiences and user perspectives
- Working cross-functionally with engineering, product management, technical writing, and GTM teams
- Balancing business priorities, customer needs, and technical considerations to deliver impact
- Documenting user needs, pain points, design directions, UX trade-offs, and detailed feature designs
- Executing qualitative and quantitative research with researchers, collaborators, customers, and the Grafana community
- Contributing to the evolution of the Product Design team through coaching, mentoring, and helping establish new ways of working as the team scales
You will join a Product Design organization of 25+ designers, researchers, engineers, and leaders distributed across six continents, working within a 100% remote R&D environment. Strong remote communication, collaboration, facilitation, and relationship-building skills are essential.
Over time, you will develop deep expertise in your product area, associated customer personas, use cases, and workflows, enabling you to design tailored, role-driven experiences.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 7+ years of relevant design experience working on B2B/enterprise software products, ideally designing tools and services for developers or highly technical users
- Portfolio of effective designs for complex products delivered in fast-paced environments
- Experience running qualitative research in complex fields, building empathy with users and understanding their needs and pain points
- Ability to make design decisions balancing business goals, product priorities, customer feedback, research insights, and technical considerations
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams across multiple locations and time zones to iteratively ship and evolve products
- Attention to detail and willingness to learn about complex, technical product spaces
- Experience working in fully-remote, fast-paced environments with transparency and autonomy
BONUS QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience designing complex, data-dense interfaces with focus on clarity
- Ability to rapidly gain understanding of technical domains and associated customer needs
- Domain knowledge or experience with observability, cloud infrastructure, and/or database monitoring
- Experience helping design teams at engineering-led companies level up their practice and impact
