Xaira Therapeutics is an AI-driven biotech startup developing generative AI models to design protein and antibody therapeutics and foundation models for biology. The company is transforming drug discovery by enabling the creation of medicines against historically hard-to-drug molecular targets.
As a Lab Software Engineer, you will join an interdisciplinary data and bioinformatics engineering team working at the intersection of AI, scientific workflows, and therapeutic discovery. You'll collaborate closely with AI scientists, lab scientists, and drug discovery experts to design, build, and deploy software systems that accelerate the identification and development of novel therapeutics.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and develop software to interact with lab instruments to capture data from high and low throughput experiments
- Build scalable pipelines for automated processing of instrument data
- Collaborate with computational and experimental teams to define data models and schemas for experimental samples and data
- Develop APIs and tools to aggregate data for analysis and visualization
- Participate in configuration and management of LIMS/ELN systems
The role spans multiple problem spaces, from building software that interfaces with lab instruments to designing data models for complex biological data. You'll work in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment where your contributions will have real-world impact on drug discovery.
For mid-level candidates, the company seeks strong academic or early industry experience in scientific data analysis, database design, or data integration. Hands-on experience with data model development on scientific projects and demonstrated ability to learn quickly and apply new techniques to real-world problems are valued.
Preferred qualifications include a degree in Computer Science, Chemistry, Biology, Computational Biology, or related field; strong programming skills in Python and/or C#; solid understanding of laboratory workflows; experience with ELN/LIMS systems (Benchling preferred); experience developing software to interface with laboratory instruments; experience with data models/schemas for scientific data; SQL database knowledge; AWS experience; and strong problem-solving skills in collaborative, multidisciplinary environments.
