OpenAI's IT organization is seeking an Event Technical Producer to lead technical production for complex internal and external events across multiple sites. This role bridges technical execution and strategic event planning, requiring leadership of distributed teams and coordination across internal stakeholders including Internal Comms, Marketing, Brand Experience, and Workplace. Key Responsibilities: - Lead end-to-end technical production for complex internal, hybrid, and distributed events from planning through live delivery and debrief - Translate ambiguous or competing stakeholder needs into clear production plans and readiness criteria - Configure and operate professional live audio, video switching, cameras, playback, conferencing, streaming, and recording systems - Integrate run-of-show across multiple sites and lead global crews for all-company events - Lead rehearsals and validate complete audience experience including remote contribution and tested backup paths - Independently prioritize technical tradeoffs, lead risk reviews, and manage incident response - Build reusable production plans, show files, runbooks, and change-control practices; mentor peers and junior crew members - Develop prioritized roadmap for production improvements based on audience feedback and recurring failures - Identify repeatable production work and build AI/agentic workflows with partner teams This is a full-time, onsite role requiring five days per week in San Francisco. Travel to other OpenAI locations is required as needed for assigned events. Requirements: - Experience leading complex live or hybrid productions across multiple teams from ambiguous requirements through delivery and debrief - Advanced expertise in multiple live-production domains (audio, video, conferencing, streaming, AV-over-IP) with ability to diagnose complex signal-path interactions - Experience configuring and operating professional production systems and creating reusable show files or control workflows - Practical AV-over-IP and networking knowledge to troubleshoot live media, timing, and connectivity with engineering partners - Demonstrated ability to independently resolve ambiguous production problems, set detailed plans, and prioritize tradeoffs - Ownership of rehearsals, technical readiness, failover testing, and calm incident response for high-priority productions - Ability to lead crews and influence partner teams without direct reporting authority - Experience working with communications, marketing, brand, Workplace, and technical partners on complex events including sensitive planning and late changes - Experience building reusable production frameworks and validated AI workflows with measurable team capability improvements - Plus: multi-space/multi-location and sensitive executive event experience - Plus: experience with Q-SYS, Dante, Ross, Vizrt, or comparable production platforms
