Ema is building an agentic AI platform to transform enterprise productivity. Founded by former executives from Google, Coinbase, Flipkart, and Okta, the company is backed by Accel, Naspers/Prosus, Section32, and angels including Sheryl Sandberg and Dustin Moskovitz. Ema operates offices in Silicon Valley, London, Bangalore, and Vancouver.
You will be Ema's first dedicated IT Engineer, owning corporate IT end-to-end across 200+ devices spanning the US, UK, Canada, and India. This is not a help desk role. Success is measured by how much of the job you systematically automate using agentic tooling, Python, Bash, APIs, and AI coding tools—removing manual work rather than absorbing it.
Key responsibilities include:
- Treat every recurring task as an automation candidate; build workflows to eliminate manual work
- Own the joiner, mover, and leaver lifecycle with People Ops, automating the Rippling → Okta → SCIM pipeline and access reviews
- Administer Okta, Google Workspace, Slack, and Atlassian; configure SSO (SAML/OIDC), SCIM, and MFA
- Manage the Mac fleet in Kandji: enrollment, automated OS patching, encryption baselines, and drift detection
- Maintain SaaS inventory and usage programmatically; reclaim unused licenses automatically
- Generate evidence for SOC 2, ISO 27001, and AI governance frameworks as a byproduct of automated operations
- Maintain runbooks, knowledge base, and integration registry; provide Tier 1/2 support within SLAs
- Partner with Finance and HR on tool access, licensing, renewals, and billing
Success milestones: 90 days—onboarding/offboarding automated end-to-end, SaaS inventory live, license reclamation running. 6 months—most recurring IT work automated, audit evidence always ready, InfoSec off IT tickets.
You'll work closely with InfoSec and have a clear path into security engineering. You build corporate IT from scratch at an agentic AI company, using the same kind of tooling Ema builds for customers.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 2–4 years in IT systems, endpoint, or identity engineering
- Hands-on Okta (or similar IdP) and Google Workspace administration
- Working knowledge of SSO, SAML, OIDC, and SCIM
- Mac endpoint management experience (Kandji or similar)
- Python or Bash scripting, with at least one shipped automation you can walk through
- Strong troubleshooting across identity, SaaS, and networking
- Precise documentation, clear written communication, and sound judgment on security and compliance risk
- Strong instinct to eliminate repetitive work, with hands-on use of AI coding tools
NICE TO HAVE:
- Okta Workflows or iPaaS (Workato, Tines, Zapier)
- SOC 2 / ISO 27001 experience
- AWS/GCP admin or Terraform
- Okta or Kandji certifications
