Wave is a fintech company building mobile money and financial services across Sub-Saharan Africa, with millions of users across 9 countries. The company's mission is to make Africa the first cashless continent by providing accessible, fee-free financial services. You will join Wave's Internal Control team as an IT Internal Control Officer, responsible for identifying IT and security risk exposures and implementing robust risk mitigation mechanisms. This role bridges internal controls, IT security, and regulatory compliance in a high-growth fintech environment. Key responsibilities include: - Serve as the primary external point of contact for IT and security controls with regulators (BCEAO), banking partners, and auditors in Senegal and Côte d'Ivoire - Support execution of IT audits, follow-ups, and remediation efforts - Identify and control IT risks across the organization, collaborating with Product/Engineering on risk mapping ahead of launches - Implement and monitor IT risk management policies and frameworks - Conduct preventive and detective controls aligned with Wave's risk profile - Monitor internal escalation mechanisms for risk issues and anticipate emerging risk trends - Perform periodic reporting on risk management activities - Collaborate strategically with Wave's Security Team You will need 3–5 years of experience in internal control, risk management, internal audit, or IT/security controls. A university degree in IT or comparable field is required. Familiarity with major IT security frameworks (ISO 27001, COBIT, NIST, SOC 2) is essential; certification is not required but practical understanding is critical. Strong knowledge of IT General Controls (ITGCs) and cloud platforms is necessary. Professional fluency in French and English is required. Prior fintech or mobile money experience is a plus. The role is based in Abidjan with potential field travel.
