Axle Energy is building software infrastructure for the decarbonized energy system, controlling hundreds of thousands of energy assets including vehicle charging, heating systems, and home batteries. The company operates at high speed in a legacy industry, backed by leading investors including Energize Capital and Accel.
You will lead Axle's international expansion strategy, assessing new markets and business models from first principles. This role combines strategic analysis with hands-on execution: you'll dive deep into regulatory frameworks, model revenue-per-asset economics across different power markets, and rapidly prototype new business propositions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Defining and executing international expansion plans
- Assessing business models and evaluating regulatory access requirements across global power markets
- Engaging directly with grid operators, utilities, retailers, partners, and prospects to validate hypotheses quickly
- Kick-starting operations in new geographies: scoping pilots, identifying partners, and building relationships
- Processing technical information while identifying commercial opportunities and executing at startup pace
You'll be a "full-stack operator" who can synthesize complex technical data, spot commercial value, and drive market entry at speed. This is an opportunity to deliver first-of-a-kind projects globally, become a domain expert in energy markets, and work at the forefront of electrification.
Compensation includes base salary (£75k–£200k), meaningful equity, enhanced parental leave, and bi-annual team retreats. The role is hybrid (2-3 days/week in the dog-friendly Farringdon office in London) with a deliberately flat organizational structure and equitable pay philosophy.
