Salary: USD 137,000 - 199,000 / annual

1Password is seeking a Senior Communications Manager to strengthen its position as a trusted authority in identity, credentials, and access management. The company has surpassed $400M in ARR, earned four consecutive Forbes Cloud 100 spots, and partners with organizations like Oracle Red Bull Racing. Over 180,000 businesses rely on 1Password for secure identity and access management. In this role, you will shape clear, credible narratives about identity and access management, unified access, and AI's role in security. You'll build trust with developer, business, and security audiences through media relations, contributed content, events, speaking engagements, and rapid response. You'll report to the Director of Communications and work within a marketing team that is growing AI capabilities and redesigning workflows through agents focused on competitive intelligence, content creation, and campaign planning. Key responsibilities include: - Developing media strategies, maintaining trusted journalist relationships, supporting executive and technical spokespeople, and creating opportunities that strengthen 1Password's market position - Leading press releases, contributed articles, blog posts, executive communications, and media materials that translate complex identity, access, AI, and developer security topics for technical and business audiences - Developing media and speaking strategies for major industry events (RSA Conference, Black Hat, Infosecurity Europe), coordinating briefings and interviews, and providing on-site support - Monitoring cybersecurity, identity, AI, and technology developments to develop rapid-response plans and help 1Password contribute credible perspectives to industry conversations - Setting goals for communications programs, monitoring coverage and message adoption, and using insights to refine strategy - Working cross-functionally with marketing, product, engineering, security, legal, sales, executive teams, and external agency partners The ideal candidate brings technical fluency, strong understanding of the security market, and ability to translate complex ideas into compelling communications. You'll use AI to work faster without outsourcing strategic thinking or editorial judgment, knowing what to hand off, what to own, and how to recognize when AI-generated work needs refinement. 1Password is remote-first but recognizes the importance of in-person connection. Travel for in-person engagement is part of most roles, including annual department-wide offsites, team meetings, and customer/industry events. The company was founded remotely in 2005 and remote work must be from your home country. REQUIREMENTS: - 6+ years of experience in communications, PR, or marketing in B2B tech; cybersecurity, AI, or developer-focused experience strongly preferred - Enterprise security expertise: understands cybersecurity, identity and access management, credential security, AI agents, and developer workflows; can explain how authentication, authorization, credential use, and accountability must evolve as organizations adopt new technologies - Media and thought leadership experience: established relationships with security, technology, business, and developer media; ability to partner with executive and technical spokespeople to develop distinctive points of view and turn them into compelling stories, bylines, briefings, and speaking opportunities - Strategic storytelling and writing skills: develops communications strategies tied to business priorities and translates complex topics into clear, credible content for technical and business audiences - Cross-functional collaboration: works effectively with marketing, product, engineering, security, legal, sales, executive teams, and external agency partners - Ownership, adaptability, and prioritization: drives work forward without waiting for perfect clarity, brings structure to ambiguity, balances planned work with rapid-response needs, makes sound decisions, communicates tradeoffs, and follows through - AI-forward judgment: uses AI to work faster without outsourcing strategic thinking or editorial judgment
