Qonto is Europe's leading finance workspace for SMEs, combining banking with integrated financial tools. Founded in 2017, the company now serves 600,000+ customers across 8 European markets and has been profitable since 2023. With 1,600+ employees across 80+ nationalities, Qonto is pursuing credit institution licensing and scaling toward one million SMEs by 2028.
As Internal Audit Manager - Compliance, you will lead the compliance audit function as a senior member of the Internal Audit team (the organization's third line of defense), reporting directly to the Head of Internal Audit and ultimately to the CEO and Board. You will own compliance-focused audit missions across Qonto's nine European markets (France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Serbia, Belgium, Portugal, Austria, Netherlands), operating under IIA Global Internal Audit Standards.
Key responsibilities include: leading compliance audit initiatives in collaboration with internal and external audit providers; participating in centralized process audits on Group-wide topics (fraud management, operational risk); coordinating internal and external auditors; driving timely implementation and monitoring of audit recommendations with escalation where needed; and supporting the annual risk assessment and multi-year audit planning process.
You will bring solid internal audit experience within banking or payment institutions, with a proven track record leading audit missions (CIA certification preferred). Strong compliance expertise is essential, particularly in AML/CFT, sanctions screening, FATCA/CRS, Anti-Bribery and Corruption, and related banking/payment regulatory frameworks (ACAMS certification a strong plus). You are an independent leader comfortable working autonomously, managing relationships with external providers and senior stakeholders, and communicating audit findings clearly across all organizational levels. Critical thinking, strong judgment, and the ability to defend positions independently are core to success.
Fluency in English and French is required; candidates should be based in Paris or Milan. The role offers significant scope across all nine markets with no limitations, a front-row seat to Qonto's credit institution licensing milestone, substantial autonomy in leading missions, cross-functional exposure to Compliance, Risk, and various departments, and comprehensive insight into Qonto's operations.
