Abode Money is an AI-powered financial home management platform helping homeowners save on property taxes, insurance, mortgages, and related costs. The company has raised $23M from top-tier investors including Sequoia and Permanent Capital.
You will own the Insurance business end-to-end as General Manager, responsible for building and scaling a new insurance distribution operation from an existing base of 50,000+ households. This is a greenfield opportunity to build the team, operations, and profitability engine for a major revenue stream.
Key responsibilities include:
**P&L Ownership**: Manage revenue, unit economics, and production plans across states and channels. Drive the business from current run rate to a sustainable insurance book with clear monthly targets.
**Team Building & Leadership**: Recruit, license, onboard, and manage licensed insurance producers and service staff. Design compensation structures, ramp plans, and establish weekly operating cadence.
**Carrier & Partner Strategy**: Negotiate affiliate agreements, select aggregator partners, secure carrier appointments, and build routing logic for declined transfers.
**Licensing & Compliance**: Navigate licensing across ten states, manage producer licenses and continuing education, ensure E&O coverage, and maintain audit readiness. Own compliance posture and documentation standards.
**Operations**: Select agency management systems and comparative raters, design servicing model, set response-time standards, and manage retention and renewal book.
**Metrics & Analytics**: Define and track production, contact rates, lead-to-bound conversion, retention, ARPU, and servicing cost per policy.
You are an experienced insurance operator who has built something from nothing. You bring 7+ years in P&C insurance distribution, including agency, branch, or insurtech experience. You hold an active P&C producer license and have managed multi-state agency licensure. You understand carrier appointments, aggregator relationships, and commission structures. You've hired and ramped licensed producers and are fluent in agency management systems and operating metrics. You actively use AI tools and are genuinely excited about modern workflows.
