Fintual is building a new pension fund (AFP) in Chile with modern technology from day one. This role bridges deep operational expertise with software engineering to design and implement robust systems for collections and accreditation—the core processes that move money from employers and other sources into member accounts.
You will be the operational reference for collections and accreditation, bringing hands-on knowledge of how these processes actually work in practice. Your mission is to translate that real-world operational complexity into clear requirements and co-design software solutions with the engineering team.
Key responsibilities:
• Supervise collections and accreditation processes from launch, directly operating systems: receiving money and files from sources (PreviRed, AFC, IPS, AFAPP, TGR, etc.), reconciliation, crediting member accounts, and managing/resolving arrears.
• Serve as the internal expert on collections and accreditation. Document each revenue source: what money arrives, what files support it, timelines, and which team handles next steps. Understand real-world discrepancies (undocumented money, overages, amount mismatches) and how to resolve them within accreditation deadlines.
• Map and document complex operational flows, edge cases, and critical business rules so engineering can build reliable software without gaps.
• Collaborate directly with the tech team on design, validation, and testing of modern systems supporting AFP operations.
• Monitor regulatory changes, propose improvements and automations, prioritize implementation, and proactively identify operational risks in new developments.
• Define functional tests and acceptance criteria for operational modules as they are released.
• Participate in industry operational forums (PreviRed, AFC, IPS, other AFPs) and support interactions with the Superintendencia de Pensiones on operational matters.
This is a founding-team role in a venture-backed fintech project to modernize pension fund operations in Chile. You will work in a multidisciplinary environment where operational expertise is valued as critical to success.
REQUIREMENTS:
Indispensable:
• Minimum 3 years of direct, hands-on experience in collections and/or accreditation operations at a Chilean AFP.
• Practical knowledge of collections: revenue sources, counterparties, file formats, timelines, daily reconciliation controls.
• Practical knowledge of accreditation: timely crediting of member accounts, arrears generation and resolution.
• Daily experience with pension management systems used in Chilean AFPs.
• Demonstrated ability to map and document complex processes with clarity, structure, and precision.
• Strong affinity for technology tools and genuine willingness to work closely with software engineering teams.
Desirable:
• Experience with AFP.net (Sonda), PreviRed, or other core pension industry systems.
• Current knowledge of Chilean regulatory framework (DL 3.500, Law 21.735, Superintendencia de Pensiones compendium and circulars).
• Prior experience in data migration projects, new module implementations, or operational system improvements at AFPs.
• Familiarity with agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) or prior experience embedded in software development teams.
