CesiumAstro is seeking an Industrial Engineer II to support manufacturing operations for satellite communication systems, UAVs, launch vehicles, and other space and airborne platforms. This role is hands-on and collaborative, working across cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support manufacturing processes, production workflows, facility layouts, and standardized work instructions.
- Perform engineering analyses including time studies, workflow evaluations, capacity assessments, and labor analyses to improve operational performance.
- Evaluate engineering drawings, production documentation, process flows, and manufacturing data while supporting process improvement activities.
- Conduct production planning, labor analysis, capacity planning, manufacturing readiness assessments, and operational improvement activities.
- Analyze production performance, manufacturing data, labor utilization, operational metrics, and process capability; resolve routine operational issues.
- Support root cause investigations, engineering changes, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, engineering, supply chain, production control, and operations teams.
- Develop process documentation, workflow diagrams, engineering reports, operational metrics, and data summaries to support business decisions.
- Participate in production reviews, manufacturing meetings, engineering investigations, and operational planning activities.
- Maintain manufacturing documentation, process records, engineering data, and configuration-controlled technical information.
- Apply engineering standards, industrial engineering methodologies, customer requirements, and organizational procedures.
- Support improvements that enhance productivity, manufacturability, quality, workflow efficiency, and operational performance.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, operations management, manufacturing technology, or related field with 2–5 years of related experience; OR Master's degree with 0–3 years of related experience in manufacturing, production operations, industrial engineering, machining, assembly, process improvement, or related discipline.
- Working knowledge of industrial engineering principles, manufacturing processes, production systems, and workflow analysis.
- Proficiency with process improvement, time studies, labor analysis, facility layout, and lean manufacturing principles.
- Understanding of manufacturing operations, quality systems, statistical analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience with engineering data analysis and production performance evaluation.
- Analytical thinking and sound judgment to resolve routine operational challenges and recommend process improvements.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams).
- Experience with industrial engineering, CAD, simulation, and process analysis tools such as AutoCAD, Visio, Arena Simulation, Minitab, or equivalent.
- Experience with manufacturing execution systems (MES), ERP systems, engineering documentation, and collaboration tools such as Epicor, SAP, Windchill, Jira, or equivalent.
- Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, conditional resident, asylee, or refugee, or eligible to obtain required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
