Baseten is a rapidly growing AI infrastructure company that powers mission-critical inference for leading AI companies like Cursor, Notion, and Abridge. Recently raised $1.5B in Series F funding, the company is expanding globally and needs an expert to manage immigration and international mobility.
As Immigration and Mobility Manager, you will own the complete immigration lifecycle for Baseten's global hiring strategy. This is a high-impact role where speed, accuracy, and clarity are mission-critical. You'll manage all U.S. visa processes including H-1B, O-1, J-1, TN, E-3, L-1, and EB-2/3 PERM sponsorships from offer through renewals and permanent residency. You'll oversee visa sponsorships executed through Employer of Record partners and serve as Baseten's internal immigration expert, partnering with external counsel and vendors as needed.
Key responsibilities include staying attuned to changes in the U.S. immigration landscape and translating policy shifts into practical guidance for employees and leadership. You'll design a seamless relocation experience for employees and families moving to San Francisco, New York, or other global locations. You'll advise on international hiring and employment arrangements, bringing expertise in cross-border tax implications and compliance considerations. You'll partner with Legal, Finance, and People teams to support international expansion and establishment of future global hubs. Finally, you'll build scalable processes, documentation, and internal education systems that make immigration and mobility transparent and human-centered.
You'll need 5+ years of hands-on experience managing U.S. and Canadian business immigration across visa types and permanent residency pathways. You must demonstrate exceptional judgment in complex, high-stakes scenarios with meticulous attention to detail. Deep knowledge of the evolving U.S. immigration landscape is essential, along with a proactive approach to monitoring policy changes. Strong experience advising on international employment arrangements, cross-border compliance, and employment tax is required. You should have a track record building scalable documentation, knowledge bases, and audit-ready case tracking systems. Exceptional communication skills—proactive, clear, and empathetic—are critical to inspire confidence during uncertain processes. You must be highly organized, managing multiple concurrent cases with speed and precision. Finally, you should be a high-ownership, systems-oriented leader who thrives in both structured and fast-scaling startup environments, balancing risk management with hiring velocity.
