Mistral is a full-stack AI company providing frontier models, developer tools, applications, and compute infrastructure. They partner with enterprises across finance, manufacturing, defense, healthcare, and the public sector to co-create customized AI systems. As Senior People Operations Manager for North America, you will build and scale the operational infrastructure supporting Mistral's regional team and international expansion. This role bridges strategic process engineering with hands-on execution, ensuring seamless HR operations while maintaining full compliance. Key responsibilities include: - Managing end-to-end payroll processing for all North American employees, coordinating with local providers and Finance teams for precise, timely execution - Launching HR operations in new countries, deploying localized benefits programs, establishing compliant entities, and creating regional operational policies - Owning onboarding and lifecycle documentation, formalizing labor contracts, amendments, and status changes within the HRIS - Coordinating global mobility and immigration matters, directly managing visas for new hires and ensuring compliance for international work trips - Resolving daily employee inquiries regarding benefits enrollment, policy clarifications, and payroll changes with clear communication - Auditing and optimizing internal HR workflows, identifying automation opportunities and benchmarking external vendors for efficiency gains - Maintaining compliance frameworks by keeping employee handbooks current and monitoring regional employment law changes You bring 8-15 years of progressive HR experience in high-growth environments, with a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field. You have strong knowledge of US employment laws, regional and international payroll/tax regulations, and proven success deploying benefits and compliance structures in new international regions. You are highly proficient with modern HRIS systems, automated payroll platforms, and data tracking tools. Your service mindset, communication skills, and ability to navigate sensitive situations are exceptional. You combine analytical problem-solving with a practical, hands-on execution style and builder mentality—turning complex regulatory requirements into clear procedures and creating order from ambiguity.
