Amperos is building healthcare's first AI-native denial management and revenue recovery platform, using agentic AI to resolve claims end-to-end and help providers recover revenue while focusing on patient care. The company recently closed a $16M Series A led by Bessemer Venture Partners and is scaling rapidly.
You will be the HR & People Operations Executive for Amperos's India team, building the people function from the ground up. This is a foundational role where you'll own the complete employee lifecycle and create structured people processes for a growing, distributed team.
Key responsibilities include:
**Recruiting & Offers**: Partner with hiring managers to define roles, coordinate sourcing and screening, manage interview scheduling, run background checks, prepare offer letters, handle candidate negotiations within approved bands, and maintain hiring documentation and pipeline tracking.
**Onboarding**: Own the end-to-end new hire experience from offer acceptance through 90 days, ensuring access, equipment, and clear onboarding plans. Coordinate access provisioning, confirm HIPAA and data security training completion, collect and maintain employee documentation, and run structured 30/60/90 day check-ins.
**Employee Engagement**: Build and run regular engagement cadence including pulse checks, skip-levels, stay conversations, and exit interviews. Own India holidays, leave, attendance, and coverage policies. Draft and roll out missing people policies (leave, appraisal, salary bands, conduct). Support managers on documentation, performance conversations, and corrective action.
**Payroll & Compliance**: Administer monthly payroll, resolve discrepancies and adjustments, process offboardings and full and final settlements. Maintain working knowledge of Indian labour law (Shops and Establishments Act, EPF, ESI, income tax) and keep the company ahead of statutory deadlines. Maintain confidential, organized, audit-ready employee and payroll data.
You'll be the first person in India that employees approach with HR questions and the person US leadership relies on to understand how the team is actually performing. You'll work closely with RCM Operations leaders and the US People lead, with overlap required during US Eastern hours.
**Requirements:**
- 3 to 5 years in HR operations, people operations, or HR generalist roles supporting an India-based team, with hands-on payroll and onboarding experience
- Working knowledge of Indian labour law and statutory compliance (EPF, ESI, tax withholding, Shops and Establishments Act)
- Experience building HR processes or policies from scratch, not just administering mature ones
- Comfortable being the person employees come to and comfortable delivering difficult feedback to managers
- Strong attention to detail with numerical and compliance data
- Clear written and verbal communication in English; able to handle sensitive conversations with discretion
- Proficiency with HRIS and payroll platforms (Deel strongly preferred), Excel/Sheets, and documentation tools (Notion, Google Drive, Linear)
- Ability to overlap with US Eastern hours for part of the day
**Nice-to-haves:**
- Experience supporting remote or distributed teams managed from the US
- Background in healthcare, RCM, or BPO/KPO operations
- Experience with Ashby, Checkr, or similar recruiting and screening tools
- Experience running engagement surveys or building an onboarding program from scratch
