SandboxAQ, an AI company spun out from Alphabet in 2022, is seeking an HR Operations Lead to own and evolve People Infrastructure in North America with select global responsibilities. This is a senior, hands-on role that bridges strategy and execution, responsible for both day-to-day operations and managing junior team members. Key responsibilities include owning the full employee lifecycle (onboarding, changes, leaves, separations, compliance) across North America; leading operational excellence and improving core HR systems, workflows, and infrastructure; translating policy into clear, workable processes; strengthening workflows for contractors and non-employee populations; managing and developing junior HR Operations team members; and partnering across People, Talent Acquisition, Finance, Legal, IT, and Security. The role emphasizes identifying friction, reducing manual work, and introducing practical AI and agentic workflows to improve quality, speed, and scale. You will help the function evolve for future complexity, including periods of rapid growth, M&A integration, or organizational change. Select sensitive employee relations matters (investigations, policy review, decision-making) and strategic programs (tech stack roadmaps, global policy initiatives) are also part of the scope. Required: 9+ years progressive HR Operations, People Operations, or HR systems experience with demonstrated ownership of regional or multi-jurisdictional operations. Prior experience should include technology evaluation/implementation (e.g., HRIS system redesign), significant policy design and transition, workflow redesign with AI/agentic solutions, and complex employee relations matters. Must have held an HR Business Partner or similar employee-facing role, with meaningful people management and junior team coaching experience. Strong systems orientation, HRIS platform fluency, and experience building or maturing contractor/consultant workforce processes are essential. Highly valued: experience in AI-focused, high-growth, or highly innovative environments; exposure to M&A, integration, or organizational transition work; ability to design for future state, not just current moment; strong judgment and discretion; excellent communication and ability to move fluidly between strategy and hands-on execution; curiosity and responsiveness to building better ways of working.
