Obsidian Security, a leading SaaS security platform protecting 200+ global enterprises including Fortune 1000 companies, is seeking a Director of People to lead and scale the People function. Reporting to the VP/Head of People, this is a player-coach role that combines strategic leadership with hands-on execution. You will manage a team of two (People Operations Manager and People Generalist), setting priorities, quality standards, and development plans while personally owning day-to-day operations and HRBP responsibilities for a select client group. Key responsibilities include: **Team Leadership**: Manage, coach, and develop direct reports with clear growth plans and performance standards. **People Operations & Systems**: Own HRIS operations and the complete employee lifecycle (status changes, promotions, transfers, terminations). Partner with Finance on payroll processing and reconciliation. Build and track key People metrics (headcount, turnover, time-to-fill, engagement) and continuously improve processes and tools. **Benefits Administration**: Design, negotiate, and administer employee benefits programs. Conduct annual open enrollment and renewals. Benchmark offerings against market data and recommend enhancements to support attraction and retention. **People Programs**: Lead performance management, engagement surveys, recognition initiatives, and career/learning development. Support compensation cycles (merit, bonus, equity refresh) and drive culture-building engagement initiatives. **Compliance**: Ensure all People policies, recordkeeping, and practices comply with employment law (FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEO, state leave laws). Own the employee handbook, manage compliance filings (EEO-1, ACA, workers' comp, I-9), and advise leadership on regulatory changes. **Onboarding & Offboarding**: Manage end-to-end programs and drive continuous improvements to scale effectively. **People Business Partnership**: Serve as primary People advisor to an assigned client group, partnering on org design, workforce planning, and talent reviews. Coach managers and employees through performance management and employee relations, translating business priorities into tailored People strategy. The ideal candidate brings 8+ years of progressive People experience including generalist/HRBP work and direct ownership of operations, benefits, and compliance. You'll have 2+ years managing People team members, working knowledge of multi-state employment law, and hands-on experience with HRIS platforms (Rippling, Workday, ADP). A strong track record managing benefits programs and vendor relationships, combined with credibility as a trusted business partner to leaders, is essential. Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, or related field preferred; SHRM-CP/SCP or PHR/SPHR certification a plus.
