SoFi is a next-generation financial services company and national bank using mobile-first technology to help millions of members reach their financial goals. The Home Equity Processor role is responsible for managing a pipeline of 30-50 home equity loan applications from initial review through closing. This position serves as the primary point of contact for borrowers, loan officers, underwriters, and third-party vendors throughout the mortgage process.
Key responsibilities include reviewing loan applications for completeness and accuracy, gathering and analyzing required documentation (tax transcripts, paystubs, tax returns, income calculations), maintaining timely communication with all parties involved, and ensuring loans are packaged and closed within deadlines and lock expiration periods. The processor must understand and adapt to changing mortgage guidelines, including Fannie Mae requirements, and manage broker channel loan offerings.
The role requires excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment. You'll need to set appropriate borrower expectations, coordinate with realtors and referral sources, and maintain a team mentality while supporting interdepartmental needs. Success in this position depends on balancing multiple competing deadlines while delivering exceptional customer service across all interactions.
Required qualifications include 2+ years of mortgage processing industry experience, knowledge of Encompass LOS software, excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to manage a mixed pipeline of loans under time constraints. Broker fulfillment experience and familiarity with Fannie Mae guidelines are preferred. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, detail-oriented, and thrives in collaborative team environments.
