As Head of Technical Accounting and Reporting, you will own all technical accounting, financial reporting, and internal controls for a dynamic, multi-product SaaS environment. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring deep expertise in U.S. GAAP and IFRS, with responsibility for ensuring accurate accounting of complex transactions and preparing the company for public-company readiness.
Key responsibilities include:
Technical Accounting: Serve as the company's subject matter expert on complex accounting matters, researching and documenting positions in accordance with U.S. GAAP and IFRS. Prepare technical accounting memos on significant transactions including business combinations, equity and stock-based compensation, leases, and revenue arrangements. Partner with Product, Sales, Legal, and Partnerships teams to assess accounting implications of new products, pricing structures, and commercial arrangements. Monitor and implement new accounting standards, communicate impact to senior management. Partner with external auditors and technical accounting consultants. Evaluate U.S. GAAP vs. IFRS differences and dual-reporting requirements. Own accounting policies and design controls for leases, stock-based compensation, business combinations, and revenue recognition. Assess complex and non-standard contracts including custom terms and usage-based pricing.
Financial Reporting and Controls: Own preparation and review of internal and external financial statements with footnote disclosures, ensuring accuracy and GAAP/IFRS compliance. Design, implement, and maintain scalable internal control environment with documentation of key processes in preparation for SOX compliance. Lead technical accounting and reporting workstreams supporting IPO readiness, including registration statement disclosures and coordination with underwriters and auditors. Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes. Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures. Prepare reporting and analysis for senior leadership, board, investors, and lenders.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA required. 15+ years progressive accounting experience combining public accounting (Big 4 preferred) and industry experience. Deep, current expertise in U.S. GAAP including ASC 606 revenue recognition, with working knowledge of IFRS. Experience in SaaS, technology, or high-growth environments strongly preferred. Technical accounting research experience and preparation of complex transaction memos. Working knowledge of internal controls and SOX, with IPO readiness or public-company reporting experience a strong plus. Understanding of technical accounting across business combinations, equity and stock-based compensation, leases, and revenue recognition.
