As Head of Strategic Finance, you will report to the CFO and lead Benchling's financial planning, forecasting, and long-range modeling processes. This is a strategic role at the intersection of finance, strategy, and company execution, requiring you to translate corporate strategy into actionable financial plans and guide major investment decisions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning annual planning, forecasting, and long-range financial planning processes
- Partnering with the executive team to evaluate priorities, investment choices, and capital allocation tradeoffs
- Building deep understanding of SaaS business drivers: revenue, retention, gross margin, operating leverage, and cash flow
- Developing financial models and business cases for strategic initiatives (new products, pricing, go-to-market, partnerships, market expansion)
- Creating executive and Board reporting that translates data into clear insights and recommended actions
- Establishing performance frameworks connecting company goals to financial plans and results
- Partnering with Accounting and functional finance leaders on forecast accuracy and management reporting
- Driving continuous process improvement to enhance forecast accuracy and reporting efficiency
- Leading and developing a high-performing strategic finance team
You should have significant experience in strategic finance, FP&A, or finance leadership within enterprise software or high-growth businesses. Deep fluency in SaaS metrics and business models is essential. Ideal candidates have supported companies through significant scale, business-model evolution, or public market preparation. You must be an effective executive communicator comfortable with Board presentations, capable of moving from complex data to clear narratives and recommendations, and skilled at building cross-functional relationships while maintaining trust and challenging assumptions.
