Mercury is a fintech platform providing banking, treasury, and financial workflow solutions for startups and technology companies. You will lead the Interfaces product organization, which spans Dashboard, Mobile, Command, API, and Model Context Protocol (MCP)—the surfaces through which customers interact with Mercury's products.
As Head of Product, Interfaces, you will report to the VP of Product and own the strategic direction and execution across all customer-facing surfaces. Your core responsibilities include:
**Strategic Leadership & Direction**
Set a unified product direction that connects Dashboard, Mobile, Command, and API/MCP through a clear understanding of customer needs and the distinct role each surface plays. Balance immediate customer needs, new opportunities, and platform investments that enable future velocity.
**Team Development & Management**
Lead and develop a PM team by building clear ownership, coaching product judgment, hiring strong talent, and enabling the team to deliver excellent work. You will own performance management, org design, and people development while staying hands-on with product decisions and customer conversations.
**AI Product Leadership**
Shape Mercury's AI experience by partnering with the Command team to turn new AI capabilities into dependable, useful products that help customers complete financial work. You will evaluate where AI removes real work and ensure it is trustworthy enough for financial use cases.
**Core Product Experience**
Improve the fundamental product experience to make it easier for customers to understand their finances, find the right action, and move seamlessly between devices and workflows. Design for customer control, making consequential actions understandable, permissions clear, and progress easy to inspect.
**Shared Capabilities & Platform**
Build and maintain shared foundations—navigation, tasks, notifications, and agent interactions—that enable all Mercury teams to deliver effectively. Partner across banking, Spend, Books, Payroll, and other product teams to bring their capabilities into cohesive shared experiences.
**Quality & Evidence-Driven Development**
Make quality part of product development by working with engineering, design, data, and research partners to evaluate behavior, understand failures, and improve through evidence. Own the tradeoffs and communicate them clearly.
**Requirements**
- 10+ years of direct product management experience, with 5+ years leading product managers (hiring, coaching, org design, performance management)
- Track record of shipping products customers value, with clear account of your own decisions and contribution
- Experience leading PMs and working across multiple teams or broad product areas; enthusiasm for developing people while staying close to the work
- Excellent product judgment and strong sense of design quality, simplicity, and customer experience
- Substantial practical experience with AI products; ability to discuss what you built, how you evaluated it, where it failed, and what changed
- Ability to turn ambiguity into clear direction and a sequence of useful releases
- Strong technical judgment and ability to work with engineers on complex product and platform decisions
- Experience aligning teams around shared capabilities while staying responsive to their different needs
- Clear communication and confidence to make recommendations, explain tradeoffs, and challenge assumptions
- Habit of using customer conversations and product evidence to improve decisions
- Willingness to own full outcomes, including work outside a narrow product remit
- High bar for your own work and thoughtful, direct approach to helping others improve
