OpenFX is building infrastructure to enable cross-border payments at scale, moving money as freely as data across time zones and legacy banking systems. As Head of Product Design, you will lead the design organization during a critical phase of product maturity and scale. You own the end-to-end design vision for the platform, creating intuitive interfaces that make complex financial operations simple for institutional partners—banks, payment providers, and fintech companies managing billions in transaction volume.
Key responsibilities include:
**Audit and Rebuild**: Conduct a comprehensive audit of the current design system and UX in your first six months, identifying design debt and establishing the foundation for a world-class design organization.
**Design Financial Tooling**: Partner with product and engineering teams to improve trading and treasury management interfaces, bringing sophisticated financial operations tooling to life through clean, purposeful design.
**Build the Design System**: Create a scalable design system and component library that enables rapid iteration without sacrificing quality or consistency across the platform.
**Build and Mentor the Team**: Build and mentor a design team as the company scales, establishing the culture, processes, and standards that define design excellence at OpenFX.
**Shape Design Strategy**: Partner with product managers and engineers to make smart tradeoffs under constraints, articulating design rationale that connects user needs to business outcomes.
Required qualifications:
- 8+ years of design experience with at least 3 years leading design for trading systems, market-making platforms, treasury management tools, or institutional financial software
- Deep, hands-on expertise with trading UI/UX patterns (order books, position management, P&L visualization, risk dashboards, real-time data displays)
- Substantial knowledge of banking and payments products, including onboarding flows, KYC/compliance interfaces, reconciliation tools, reporting systems, and operational workflows
- Systems thinking: ability to architect comprehensive design frameworks while obsessing over pixel-perfect details
- Collaborative and pragmatic approach to partnering with product and engineering teams
- Portfolio demonstrating experience with financial services design, particularly trading systems or institutional platforms
Desirable qualifications:
- Fluency in both fiat and digital asset contexts; experience with stablecoins, DeFi protocols, or crypto trading platforms
- Experience building design systems from scratch for complex B2B platforms
- Experience conducting user research with institutional clients
