Coram AI is building an AI-native video security platform that uses computer vision and multimodal LLMs to help businesses monitor, investigate, and respond to real-world security incidents. The platform serves security and operations teams with features including real-time alerts, seamless clip sharing, multi-site visibility, custom AI alert setup, natural language video search, interactive camera walls, and incident investigation tools. As Head of Product Design, you will own the complete design vision and quality bar for this platform. You'll be responsible for translating complex workflows—live video feeds, AI detections, multi-site operations, access control, and incident response—into intuitive, high-confidence experiences for security operators, IT directors, and facility leaders. This is a player-coach role where you'll remain hands-on with design work while building and scaling the design team from the ground up. You'll define the design strategy, establish processes and rituals, maintain the UI component library and design system in Figma, and ensure accessibility and visual consistency across desktop and mobile. Key responsibilities include hiring and developing designers, running design critiques, setting career growth paths, and championing user research through direct conversations with customers. You'll partner closely with product and engineering leadership on roadmap planning and prioritization, ensuring design shapes product direction. Critical areas you'll guide include natural language video search, custom AI alert configuration, interactive camera walls, incident deep-dive investigations, multi-site security oversight, role-based access control, visitor management, and emergency response coordination. Coram AI was founded by Ashesh Jain (ex-Lyft Level 5, PhD Cornell) and Peter Ondruska (ex-Lyft, PhD Oxford). The company has raised over $65M from investors including Ansa Capital, Battery Ventures, Mosaic, 8VC, and Up Partners, and was named to the CB Insights AI 100 as one of the most promising AI companies in the world. The mission is to transform the $50B+ legacy security industry by bringing cutting-edge AI and computer vision to real-world operations. Requirements: The posting does not explicitly state years of experience or formal educational requirements. However, the role expects a systems-minded design leader with demonstrated experience solving technically complex B2B problems, building design teams from the ground up in early-stage environments, and managing design strategy at scale. You should have strong product design fundamentals, experience with design systems and Figma, and the ability to mentor and develop other designers.
