FERO is a Dutch fintech scaling rapidly across Amsterdam, Spain, and the UK. The company is seeking a Head of Operations to build and own the operational backbone supporting this growth trajectory.
In this hands-on operator role, you will report directly to the CEO and manage direct reports from day one. You'll take ownership of critical functions including financial reporting, HR, people operations, and central management information (MI). This is not a coordination-only position—you own outcomes across these areas.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning financial reporting across the business, coordinating with Dutch, US, and UK accounting functions
- Overseeing reconciliation and financial reporting through the Senior Reconciliation Analyst
- Taking ownership of HR policies, processes, and people operations infrastructure
- Designing and building central management information systems: consolidated reporting and dashboards providing a single source of truth across finance, people, and operations
- Partnering closely with the CEO on cross-functional priorities, translating decisions into execution
- Identifying and fixing process gaps as FERO scales (onboarding, reporting cadence, decision rights)
- Working across Dutch, Spanish, and UK operations, navigating multi-jurisdiction labor law and compliance
Required qualifications:
- 5+ years in operations, finance, or chief-of-staff-style roles, ideally with at least one stretch in a scaling startup (30-150+ people)
- Genuine comfort moving between HR, finance, and reporting workstreams—this is a generalist role
- Finance literacy sufficient to sanity-check reporting and reconciliation; you don't need to be a qualified accountant but need real fluency
- People management experience
- High tolerance for ambiguity and low attachment to a fixed lane; scope will shift as the business scales
- Strong enough to challenge senior leaders and push back constructively
Nice-to-have experience:
- Operating across multiple European jurisdictions (Netherlands, Spain, UK)
- Fintech, payments, or regulated financial services background
- Building management reporting or MI infrastructure from an immature starting point
This is a senior, high-visibility role with real scope to shape how FERO operates as it scales. You'll build core operational infrastructure from the ground up in a collaborative, fast-moving environment at a licensed Dutch fintech with growing international operations.
